Vegetable Yogurts

Carrot, tomato and parsnip aren’t typically go-to ingredients found in dairy products, but Dr. Bhatia says look for veggie-based yogurts packed with vitamins and protein to hit the market in the New Year.

Organic Sports Drinks

Think beverages low in sugar and artificial ingredients, but high in electrolytes.

"Super" Milk

Thanks to a special filtration process, Dr. Bhatia says these new “super” milks offer up 50 percent more natural protein and calcium than regular milk and 30 percent less sugar.

Plant-Based Cheeses

Cheeses flavored with lavender? Sounds like a culinary coup, but Dr. Bhatia says that adding this particular plant actually has been shown to help with digestion.

5/7

Cinnamon Water

You probably already know the bulk of cinnamon’s benefits (including helping to control insulin levels, decrease blood sugar and suppress the appetite), and this year looks like it will bring about even more ready-to-drink options for the superstar spice.

6/7

Quark

This highly nutritious dairy product originated in Europe and contains double the protein of Greek yogurt. According to Dr. Bhatia, it’s also a great source of vitamin K2, which helps maintain bone strength and protect arteries from blockages.

7/7

Cauliflower Rice

Another smart carb swap, this dish (which you can make simply by using a cheese grater) is a natural source of vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber that replaces the consumption of starchy carbohydrates.
