The 6 Biggest Celebrity Hair Color Transformations
By Leah Goldblatt, Editorial Assistant |
From blondes, brunettes, and everything in between, when a celebrity changes their hair we notice. However when they have major hair color transformations it’s all we can talk about! We took a look at some of the most dramatic celebrity hair color transformations this year and checked in with Senior Colorist Nicole Tresch at The Rita Hazan Salon in New York City to get more details and to see why it worked or why it didn’t.
Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Kim stepped out with her new platinum blonde locks and the social media world was a buzz. Although she looks amazing no matter what Tresch says, “It’s fun to try, but she is better as a brunette since her features are dark.”
Expert Tip: When going as drastic as dark brown to platinum blonde the process likely won’t happen all in one session.
It might just be me, but I’m pretty sure I can’t be alone when I say that I am so excited to see Julia back to rocking the red hair. Although she is one of those amazing people who looks great as a blonde or a brunette, her red “is shiny and vibrant, and brightens up her whole face,” adds Tresch.
Expert Tip: Red is one of the hardest colors to maintain and the hardest to get out if you decide you no longer want it.
Lady Gaga is continuously evolving whether it’s her music, fashion or as of late, her hair. “She can pull off a lot because she is so eccentric, but thanks to her youthful skin she pulls off both looks well, which few people can do.”
While we adore her short pixie cut regardless of the color, her rich brown shade takes our vote, should we get one! “Maggie’s dark hair really makes her features pop! You see her eyes first when her hair is dark, alternatively all you see is a head of bleach and her features get lost.”
Expert Tip: Hair that has been bleached may suffer breakage and that kind of color has to be maintained every 3-4 weeks.
