NewBeauty Editors’ Picks: The One Skincare Product That Just Works

With so many new skincare products to choose from, it's wonderful to have options when it comes to updating our beauty cabinets. However, what's even better? Having that one miracle product that we absolutely love because it just works so well. Our editors share seven of their favorites.

1/7

Retin-A

It’s not new, trendy or fancy, but this little tube is pure magic. It completely changed my skin to get rid of recurring breakouts—I’ll never go without it. – Elise Minton, Executive Beauty Director

2/7

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

I am usually not a huge oil fan because my skin is already rather oily. However, I just started using this a few weeks ago and I have already seen a huge difference in my skin. You just need to put on two drops before bed and you honestly wake up with the perfect glow—you don’t even need to wash your face again, just get up, put on makeup and go. – Liz Ritter, Executive Managing Editor ($105), Sephora.com

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum

Formulated with Retinol SA, which helps fight fine lines and wrinkles and refine skin texture, this serum is a winner in my book. I love the way it feels (it absorbs right into skin) and smells (the scent is very soft and sophisticated). I use it every other day instead of the suggested daily use so that it won't overdry my skin (retinol can be very drying for some), and that has seemed to work perfectly for my at-times finicky skin. – Brittany Burhop, Senior Editor ($23), ulta.com

Kate Somerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift

Kate managed to take her signature celebrity spa treatment and bottle it. The result? One powerhouse product. DermalQuench is by no means new--she launched it a while back, but it is the only skin care product I have emptied over and over and over again. It's a pressurized spray that delivers oxygen into the skin and this delivery system infuses the skin with hyaluronic acid for deep hydration, and botanical leaf extracts to boost radiance. The minute I put it on my skin gets a glow and after I’ve used it consistently for a few weeks I notice overall improvement in texture and fine lines and wrinkles. It’s the only product that has ever had people stop me to tell me how good my skin looks. – Anna Jimenez, Senior Multimedia Editor ($95), katesomerville.com

Burts Bees Brightening Even Skin Tone Moisturizing Cream

This is my staple cream. It uses Daisy Blossom, Summer Snowflake and other natural ingredients to moisturize and brighten skin as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and dark spots. Whenever my skin is dull and dehydrated from lack of sleep or stress, it instantly brings my skin back to life and keeps it looking fantastic all day long.  -Margaret McGriff, Senior Web Editor ($20), ulta.com

Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner

I am a longtime fan of Kiehl’s toners and this one is my favorite. It’s great for my combination skin—the cucumber moisturizes and soothes my skin without leaving it oily. It’s super gentle, yet leaves my face feeling refreshed and clean. Plus the cucumber makes me feel like I’m getting a spa treatment at home…and who wouldn’t love that? - Alison Abbey, Special Projects Editor ($16), kiehls.com

Mila Moursi Dual Action Serum

The best skincare is the one that you actually continue using day in and day out. For me, that product is the Dual Action Serum from Mila Moursi, which helps to soothe skin and smooth complexion. While the product is certainly packed with powerful active ingredients (peptides, plant extracts and anti-wrinkle activators), what really makes it great is the feather-light texture that belies just how concentrated the serum actually is. It goes on like water, absorbs instantly and leaves my face feeling refreshed, so I can take on the day and let the serum do its job (which it does, beautifully) without having to give my skin care needs a second thought. – Carolyn Hsu, Digital Managing Editor ($185), barneys.com

I agree with prescription Retin-A as it has clinical proof. I do not believe any oil, cream or serum has been created to lift the skin. I love Josie Maran Argan oil, No. 7 serum, and Olay Regenerist serum and use them as a primer as I wear very little makeup.
