Makeup Artist Must-Haves: Inside Fiona Stiles Kit
By Anna Jimenez, Editorial Video Director |
If a makeup artist uses, and trusts, only certain products on their A-list clientele, you would want to know what those products are, right? Us too. That’s why we asked celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles, who is known for her work with stars like Halle Berry, Kate Winslet, Eva Mendes and Elizabeth Banks, to name a few, to open up her kit and tell us which makeup, tools and fragrance she can’t live without.
Tom Ford Concealing Pens ($52)
Why she loves it: "The texture is really versatile—it can be thinned out or built up for more coverage, and the colors are spot on. Also, the applicator is so soft and spongy, it feels really nice around the sensitive eye area."
Why she loves it: "I love an illuminator that isn’t too sparkly or shiny. This one is the perfect golden color that works on a wide range of skin tones and adds the perfect soft highlight to the face. Use your ring finger to pat it on the bridge of your nose and on your cheekbones to bring light and radiance to your skin."
Why she loves it: "I love a dense lash that also feels feathery. I can push the mascara deep into the roots for thicker-looking lashes, and then use the same wand to extend the tips of the lashes in a feathery, soft way. Bend the brush into a 45-degree angle to make application easier. By bending it, you are less likely to get lots of mascara on your lids."
Why she loves it: "I love the texture of this foundation. It truly blends seamlessly into the skin. It's not matte, it's not too shiny, and it gives a perfect velvet finish. Use a damp sponge to blend your foundation for the most flawless finish.”
Why she loves it: "First of all, I love the shock factor of this lipstick. It's blue. Not a little blue, but b-l-u-e. But, when you apply it, it goes on sheer and then adjusts to a beautiful sheer plum color that is unique to you.”
Why she loves it: "A glamorous fragrance is essential for your look, and there is no other fragrance more glamorous than this one. I always recommend fragrance as critical part of an overall look. It will amp up your confidence and really get you in the mood. It’s exactly what you want for a red carpet event, a night on the town or a special occasion. Because I do makeup for a living, instead of wearing it on my wrists, I like to wear my fragrance on the inside crook of my arms so that there is just a hint of my favorite scent while I'm working. It's a warm part of the body, so it nicely activates the fragrance."
