Researchers from Pantene (in conjunction with parent company P&G) surveyed more than 1,000 women to determine the start of “aging hair” (defined by signs beyond graying and thinning to include breakage, split ends, frizz, lackluster color and dryness). The results? Your hair looses its youthful luster when you're approximately 35—an age that’s significantly lower than what is commonly associated with menopause. So what does this mean for your strands? “Like skin, hair is aging intrinsically,” explains Pantene scientist Emily Overton. “But, like the skin, it can be treated with the right products and prevention is key.”
