I tend to break all of the skin care rules on a regular basis. Instead of finding the right products for my skin type, I generally just jump right in face first and ask questions later. My trial-and-error approach can sometimes lead to breakouts and aggravate my super dry skin. So when I got my hands on Skin Owl’s Beauty Bars ($24) and I could easily read and comprehend the ingredients, I was ready to switch my usual cleansers for something more natural and organic.
I started with the Matcha Beauty Bar, which is best for aging or tired skin. With matcha tea being such an up-and-coming ingredient, I was curious to see if it really would make a difference on my skin. What I noticed right away was smoother, softer skin and fewer dry patches. In addition to the much-celebrated matcha tea, which is known for its high antioxidant properties, it also contains cocoa and shea butters, and olive and castor oils, which my thirsty skin drank right up.
The other beauty bars in this line are made up of two equally effective superstar ingredients. The Charcoal Beauty Bar came in handy during times when I experienced those annoying small clusters of embarrassing pimples around my jawline. It exfoliated, cleansed my pores and helped calm down the redness that comes with hormonal breakouts. I loved using them so much that I grabbed the Tomato Beauty Bar (with lycopene, bentonite clay and tea tree oil) and took it with me in the shower (the epitome of skin care laziness). I found that it not only worked wonders on my face, but I could also use it all over my body, which has some very different needs than the skin on my face. I noticed healthier, happier, clearer skin all over my body without having to think about what hidden ingredients might be in it. Above all else, I love how effortless it is to see my skin improve with these skin-nourishing bars.
