You know the name of your favorite fragrance, but do you know what kind of fragrance it is? We don’t mean floral verus oriental or designer versus drugstore-we’re talking intensity. Take a look at the label and see which of these four strengths you’re wearing.
Perfume: By far the strongest and longest-lasting fragrance form available, perfume (or parfum) provides intensity and emphasis and contains the largest percentage of essential oils.
Eau de parfum: One of the newer forms of fragrance available, eau de parfums provide the foundation for perfume application, for when you want your fragrance to stick around at least five hours or so.
Eau de toilette: Literally translated as “toilet water,” eau de toilette is less concentrated than eau de parfum.
Cologne: The lightest type of fragrance, cologne is refreshing and perfect for splashing over the entire body. However, the scent typically doesn’t last very long.
