Before you undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure, you might want to check with your medical insurance company to determine whether or not it provides coverage for any problems that may arise from your elective procedures. In some cases, it may not.
When complications occur, the average case is about $6,000, which you may be entirely on the hook for, even if it is a medical issue, says CosmetAssure. Yet, if you have your procedure performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, you may be able to purchase additional insurance to cover any potential issues.
In fact, CosmetAssure, which provides insurance for complications arising from elective procedures, is available for 17 procedures (including many body lift and facelift procedures, tummy tucks, liposuction, nose jobs, breast augmentation-basically those that are not covered and/or require general anesthesia or IV sedation). It can be purchased in 45 states and the District of Columbia, the company says. Plus, it’s endorsed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Would you consider adding an insurance policy before undergoing cosmetic surgery?
