You may be pulling your strappy sandals and flip-flops out of the closet for the warmer days headed our way, but have you taken a look at your feet lately? If your heels are dry and chapped, and in need of a little TLC, then here’s how to get them summer-ready in a flash:
Hydration: A good foot balm can do wonders that your everyday body lotion can’t. Opt for a thick cream (Kerstin Florian Krauter Fuß Balm is one of our go-tos, thanks to its refreshing peppermint extract). Apply it twice a day to nourish your entire foot-from heels to toenails.
Pamper them: Wash your feet with warm water, and while they are slightly damp, apply a body or cuticle oil to your heels, around your toenails and any other dry spots. Follow up with your foot balm and then slip on some socks made of natural fibers, like cotton. Then wear them to bed.
Exfoliate: Use an exfoliator specifically geared for your feet and give them a gentle rub with a pumice stone a few times a week. You may want to increase your pedicure visits to twice a month until your heels look smooth and soft again. Many salons and spas offer extra pampering for your feet, including paraffin wax treatments or extra-moisturizing wraps. Go ahead, you deserve it.
Consider an in-office treatment: If at-home efforts aren’t enough, it may be time to get professional help with procedures like a chemical peel for your feet (offered by your podiatrist) or a laser treatment, like PinPointe, an Nd:YAG laser that’s FDA-approved to zap toenail fungus and reveal prettier tootsies in no time.
