If you’re like me, you hate blow-drying your hair. Every stylist who’s given me a blowout has commented on how “well” my hair retains water, aka it takes forever to dry. As a result, I’m always looking for ways to maximize my drying time while also getting a smooth finish. So when Revlon’s new 360 Dryer (I’ve never seen anything like it before) came across my desk, I had to give it a try.

What makes this first-to-market dryer different from its more traditional counterparts is its innovative design. A patent-pending Dual Air Flow System with two modes—vertical 360 and horizontal—allow you to customize your blowout. The horizontal mode looks and functions like your standard blowdryer, and is good for drying your roots and anytime you’re drying your hair with a round brush. The vertical 360 mode—here’s where things get interesting—lets you put sections of your hair into the actual nozzle (it’s coated with ceramic to minimize damage) of the dryer for a better “dry” with less frizz and a smoothing effect. Concentrated air jets dry your strands from the front and back at the same time for a more efficient blowout. To switch between the two modes, just twist the nozzle (check out the images below for a better idea).
“With the customizable airflow technology, users can achieve results fast, with less damage and more effortlessly than ever before,” says Joann Parker, vice president of retail for Helen of Troy. “We’re designed this tool to not only reinvent the way our consumers dry and style their hair, but also meet their specific demands in a way that has never been done before. It’s reliable and easy to use, and it reduces damage and results in less drying.”
It’s a little heavier than my go-to blow-dryer, but I enjoyed using it and it did dry my hair a little bit faster. Plus, the opening that you slide your hair into in vertical mode is bigger than you’d expect (see below), so you can actually fit a pretty good section in there at one time. It didn’t pull my hair out or anything crazy either (in case you were wondering). In the beauty world, we get excited when we see truly innovative products, and this one fits the bill.
