Actual patient. Treated with 3 mL Restylane® Lyft per hand. 3 weeks after treatment. Individual results may vary.

By the time she turned 50, Lanie Shapero already had a self-care routine in place. “I take care of myself, by eating right, exercising, staying out of the sun and adhering to an anti-aging skin care regimen,” she says. But she noticed one change that all her beauty and care rituals didn’t seem to help: A loss of volume in her hands.

For her birthday, Shapero decided to get Restylane® Lyft hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler in her hands. “I felt that it was time to do something about my hands, since they were a give-away to my true age. I also think 50 is a huge milestone, and once you hit it you want to do everything to look the best you can,” she says.

Shapero had already been using Restylane® fillers for years to fill in facial lines.[i] When she found out about the first and only FDA-approved HA filler for hands, Restylane Lyft,[ii],[iii] she made the decision to get her hands filled as well. “I was bothered by the way my hands looked,” she explains. “I felt that my hands looked older than my face. Since I am petite and on the thinner side, my hands looked veiny, bony and wrinkled.” She went to NYC dermatologist Dr. Ellen Marmur and asked to try Restylane Lyft filler for hands.

“I was a little nervous, but not much,” says Shapero. “I have been using Restylane fillers for years, so I’m familiar and comfortable with this type of treatment,” she says. Just as importantly, she also had a doctor that she trusted.

The procedure itself was simple. “Dr. Marmur numbed my hands, made a few injections, and then applied some ice for about 5 minutes. That was it. It was an easy, and relatively painless procedure,” she says. Afterwards, her hands were “a little sore and swollen,” but she didn’t have any bruising or redness. Best of all, she could see the results “right away.”

Shapero asked Dr. Marmur for “natural-looking” results that would make her hands appear more youthful, and thanks to Restylane Lyft, her beauty ideal became a reality. “My hands look younger, the veins and tendons are less prominent and the skin on the back of my hands looks smoother and fuller. I love the way my hands look now and love showing them off,” she said. Family and friends noticed how smooth and full her hands look.

Thanks to the treatment, Shapero feels more confident in her hands. “I love showing them off,” she says. “I now choose cool, vibrant nail polish colors like navy, instead of my usual neutral color, and make sure my diamond engagement and wedding rings are cleaned.”

At 50, Shapero is back to feeling (and looking) all-around youthful. “It really is an awesome feeling to look at your hands and love the way they look. It is also an even better feeling knowing that my hands and face won’t give away my true age.”
