In her later years, my always-glamorous Grandma Bea traded in her dramatic wigs for an equally dramatic turban-esque head wrap. At the time, it struck me as unusual, but ever since I received a Wrapadoo, I’ve started to think Grandma Bea wasn’t just glamorous-she was savvy.
As someone who took an inordinately long time to master the wrapping-the-towel-around-the-hair move, I welcomed Wrapadoo as an alternative to the heavy, easily knocked-over norm. After showering, I just place it on my head, wrap the tail section around my hair, and secure it by hooking the attached elastic around the faux diamond up front. It’s comfortable, warm, and oh-so retro.
One of the most brilliant uses for a Wrapadoo, I’ve found, is for increasing the impact of a hair mask. Instead of struggling with a blow dryer and plastic shower cap, the Wrapadoo cozily adds healthy heat while preventing knots and breakage. You don’t even have to get out of the tub! (No, that’s not me in the photo-I don’t even own a bathtub. But doesn’t she look relaxed? Jealous.)
Although I won’t be rockin’ the Wrapadoo in public the way Grandma Bea sported her own wrap, I can see myself wearing it around the house just to keep my long, thick locks out of my face while I’m putting on makeup or cleaning. Not that Grandma Bea and I have ever been big cleaners-but I know she’d approve.
