Celebrating a Visionary and Aesthetics Pioneer, Dr. Vic Narurkar featured image

The world of dermatology lost one of its brightest and boldest stars with the passing of dermatologist Vic Narurkar, MD. Dr. Narurkar built a career executing cutting-edge advancements in aesthetics—we have him to thank for pioneering some of today’s most well-known procedures, such as Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant and StarLux IPL treatments. His passing is a loss to the entire aesthetics industry. He was a brilliant thought leader, one of our most trusted advisors, and a vibrant personality with a genuine, pay-it-forward spirit.

We knew Dr. Narurkar for much more than just his exceptional practice. He was a passionate trainer, mentor and teacher. One of his proudest accomplishments was founding Cosmetic Bootcamp, a leading resource for professionals to receive ongoing education in the field of aesthetics. Known for starting the #noposers social media movement, Dr. Narurkar was one of the most honest voices in the industry and an unwavering advocate for the highest standards of patient care. We relied on his guidance and insights and he never faltered in his mission to educate and inspire all patients to make the most informed decisions.

As someone who always put people first, Dr. Narurkar truly connected the industry. He had an energy and a spark that brought us all together—we learned as much from him at his events and parties as we did in his office. He was an example of how to live a meaningful life—an avid traveler, animal lover (his dachshund Mavis, frequent star of Dr. Narurkar’s social media channels, was considered his unofficial mascot) and a true visionary.

Dr. Narurkar was the fiercest defender of the science and art of dermatology and will be sorely missed. In honor of his memory, we are sharing quotes and remembrances of him from his patients, friends and colleagues.

“Vic was a unique man. Selfless and generous. He wanted to help other dermatologists and the specialty of dermatology with no self-serving agenda. He coined the term ‘no posers’ because in this day of social media, people often present themselves to be more than they are and that is a disservice to the greater good.” —New Orleans, LA dermatologist Mary Lupo, MD

“I met Vic over 15 years ago, when I was starting as a Trainer/Speaker for major pharmaceutical companies. He graciously extended me an invitation to the Cosmetic Bootcamp, which impressed me for the quality of its organization and mission on educating core specialty (plastic surgeons, special plastics and dermatologists).

I returned the following year having been kindly invited as Faculty. Throughout the years, professional friendships turned into a family, not only within the organization, but also among the top specialists in the United States. Last year, I was fortunate to be the Co-Director with Vic.

My dear friend and brother was my partner on stage at many meetings.  We talked a lot about future projects together.  We shared a certain peace in our hearts that, at our age, we had been blessed with the knowledge that what truly matters in life is family and friends.

I will always treasure and cherish the memories of those special moments Cris and I spent with Vic and Mike, along with our beloved dogs, Mavis and Chabella.”—San Juan, Puerto Rico oculoplastic surgeon José Raúl Montes, MD

My deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues.” —Danielle Hale Scott, vice president, Hawkins International Public Relations
