The social media beauty buzz of the week as hit and we can bet it’s something that won’t have you looking away.
Created by 21-year-old Spanish artist Cinta Tort Cartró, the colorful “rainbow stretch marks” were intended as a form of “expression,” but have quickly turned into a whole lot more.
As first reported on by Yahoo! Beauty, Cartró (who goes by the name zinteta on Instagram, where she posts her work), said, “There are many things happening in my town that I couldn’t be silent on, such as the male microaggression toward the female body. I know there are countries that have it worse than here in Spain, but I couldn’t stay silent.”
Besides not staying silent, she hopes the “self-accepting” works of art will have women looking at the things they dislike about their bodies through a different lens. “Around a year ago I started to question why I was doing certain things to my body,’ Cinta told metro.co.uk. “I started to love myself a little more, started to work on self-love, and started to empower myself. Here began a stage in my career in which I started working to show all the pressure there is towards women and their bodies.”
Whether you’d try it or not, that’s something we can all get behind.
