“I was on a mission to lose weight and get in shape, and I know I had to completely change my eating and drinking habits—cheese was my biggest weakness and I gave it up for six weeks to reset my relationship with it. I started by eating clean, healthy foods and not drinking alcohol during the week. Then I began working out with a personal trainer twice a week and working out on my own two to four times a week. Once I started to plateau in terms of results, I worked with my trainer on a more rigid diet plan and did harder workouts on our off days. My meals were superdetailed and I based them on the workout I did for the day.
Over the summer, I started training for my first triathlon. My eating plan was revised (again!) and I was no working out five to seven times a week. Since then I’ve completed two triathlons and gone from a size 16 to a size 4/6. I feel better than I ever though I could. It’s been a year filled with lots of hard work, but this is a lifestyle change for me and the best one I’ve ever made.”

Once Rachael reached her ideal body, it was time to update her hair and makeup to complete her makeover transformation. Clarins makeup artist Tony Losavio used smoky shadows to enhance her eyes. Black eyeliner on the inner rims of her eyes added thickness to her lash line, which was topped off with mascara to give the look of fake lashes. He contoured and highlighted her face and used a plum color on her lips to tie the look together. Ammon Carver, L’ANZA global creative director, added balayage highlights and kept the ends and frame natural and bright for a beauty style (extensions were used, too).
