The thing about not getting enough sleep is that it can make your body and mind feel bad for days on end. But, as soon as you start to look tired in the mirror, you know it’s the official warning siren to really do something about it.

I recently got to that point. Obviously, getting a good night’s sleep was the remedy, but, in the meantime, I needed some immediate intervention—stat. As luck would have it, this tiny tube of Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir ($26) came across my desk in my moment of need, complete with a handwritten note from the creator that described it as “your new sleep substitute.”

She’s wasn’t lying. Just the smallest drop creates a sort of glowy concealer-meets-eye cream makeup/skin care hybrid that does a serious job on dark circles. It also stays put; while the rest of my makeup had pretty much melted off by the end of the day, this was still standing strong. The secret is some potent pigmented minerals, plus brightening botanicals rich in vitamins C, D, E and K. There are also 10 shades (which you can try before you buy the full-size product), so you can’t really get your match—or your fake “I-slept-eight-hours” look—wrong.
