If you have a three-step skin care system, we congratulate you because not everyone actually uses a cleanser, serum and moisturizer every day. But there’s one more step that’s missing-toner. And there’s good reason not to skip it.
“Facial toners are the most commonly overlooked product in a skin care regimen,” says skin care expert Cecilia Wong, “But they shouldn’t be as they’re a crucial component to skin’s optimal health!”
Plus, they’re easy to use. After cleansing, simply spray or wipe toner over your skin using a cotton pad. Another option is to use it throughout the day (if it’s a spray), which Wong highly suggests. “Toners re-balance skin’s pH to a normal level and stimulate the moisturizing processes of the skin, providing hydration for proper, healthy cell functioning,” she says. They “also cleanse and refine pores, preventing blockage by dust, oil and other impurities.”
One to try is Cecilia Wong Skincare Toner Mist ($32) because it contains radish root ferment that works as a probiotic to kill bad bacteria (not the good stuff). Also, when picking a toner, make sure it doesn’t contain alcohol so it won’t dry out your skin.
