In celebration of our 2021 NewBeauty Award Winners, we hosted last night’s virtual live event to rewind and take a look through a handful of our new favorite products. Featured under the spotlight were all of our editors, who with host Amber Milt, dished the “why behind the win,” plus amazing brands, who explained each product’s claim to fame.
Our viewers also had the opportunity to order a VIP box prior to the event, filled with award-winning products from each spotlighted brand, to open as the show progressed. Ahead, a look at featured products and what our guest speakers had to say about each. If you missed the live event, take a deep breath—you can re-watch it live on our Facebook page or, if you’re just here for the shopping, view the list of promo codes straight from the brands themselves here.
Featured Product:
Eminence Camelia Glow Solid Face Oil ($88)
Award:
Best Face Oil
Guest Speaker:
Brian Goodwin, international educator and Liz Ritter, executive editor
Product Rundown:
In a clinical study, which proved that this product can detox the skin, 87 percent of users experienced a healthier looking glow. Inside the formula, you’ll find the star of the show, camelia oil, which prevents water loss; pink tourmaline gemstones for inner healing; and condurango bark to oxygenate the skin.
Featured Product:
Jan Marini Skin Care Management System ($310)
Award:
Best Skin-Care System
Guest Speaker:
Jan Marini, founder and Tatiana Bido, features editor
Product Rundown:
Bido explains what swept us off our feet: “We love that this kit takes all of the guess work out of getting younger-looking skin and navigating through the steps, regimen or routine. One tip for use is to apply it dry first. This allows you to use the product in the most concentrated way and helps to loosen oil in your pores.”
Featured Product:
Glo Skin Beauty GlyPro AHA Resurfacing Peel ($85)
Award:
Best At-Home Peel Kit
Guest Speaker:
New York dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD and Tatiana Bido, features editor
Product Rundown:
This at-home peel not only comes with everything you need from a headband to cotton pads, but it’s also a fraction of the price of an in-office peel, with results Dr. Engelman says are “equivalent to the peels we do in-office.”
Featured Product:
Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser ($38)
Award:
Best Gel Cleanser
Guest Speaker:
Trish Stack, VP of marketing and Liz Ritter, executive editor
Product Rundown:
According to Ritter, “This product is consistently recommended by many NewBeauty dermatologists. It was actually recommended to me years ago and it’s one I always go back to because I have very red, sensitive, and reactive skin.” She also adds that this cleanser makes the skin always feel very clean, but never overly dry or stripped.
Featured Product:
Elta MD UV Restore Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 ($37)
Award:
Best Post-Procedure Sunscreen
Guest Speaker:
Hamden, CT dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD and Brittany Burhop Fallon, beauty director
Product Rundown:
This sunscreen is chock-full of squalane for hydration, antioxidants C and E for brightening and providing an extra layer of UV protection, and ginger root extract for smoothness. “It’s great for all skin types and tones and our patients are also comfortable wearing it,” says Dr. Gohara.
Featured Product:
Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment ($85)
Award:
Best Glycolic Acid Serum
Guest Speaker:
Sunday Riley, founder and Brittany Burhop Fallon, beauty director
Product Rundown:
Great for those with sun damage and clogged pores, this treatment—it’s the sister product to Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic acid Treatment ($85)—has the concentration and efficacy of an exfoliating serum but the texture of a light lotion. “You can also spot treat with this and if you’re using a retinol, we suggest using the retinol at night and this in the day, or alternate between the two at night,” explains Fallon.
Featured Product:
Grande Cosmetics Grande Brow Enhancing Serum ($70)
Award:
Best Brow Enhancer
Guest Speaker:
Alicia Grande, founder and Danielle Fontana Dooley, senior digital editor
Product Rundown:
Packed with amino acids and antioxidants, this brow-enhancer administers results you can actually see. “A huge part of my job is testing a handful of products at a time at all times, so when one doesn’t deliver results in six or so weeks, it hits the back burner for me,” says Dooley. “This one visibly filled in sparse areas of my brows within that timeframe and made me a believer.”
Featured Product:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze ($23)
Award:
Best Clear Brow Gel
Guest Speaker:
Anastasia Soare, founder and CEO and Olivia Wohlner, editorial assistant
Product Rundown:
With just one swipe of this gel, we felt like models. The formula is completely translucent so it doesn’t add any color to the brows, making it the perfect topper post-fill. With this product, “you can get the lamination look without the commitment of having your eyebrow laminated,” says Soare.
Featured Product:
Charlotte Tilbury The Classic Eyeliner Pencil ($22)
Award:
Best Eyeliner Pencil
Guest Speaker:
Erin Stein, head of education and pro artistry and Sarah Eggenberger, senior editor-at-large
Product Rundown:
This liner, which Stein pins as her favorite from the brand, gives you the precision of a pencil but the sultriness of a shadow. Its claim to fame: The pencil gives you the supermodel-esque 90’s smoky eye look without having to go through all the trouble of layering eyeshadows.
Featured Product:
Vivace RF
Award:
Best Radio-Frequency Microneedling Treatment
Guest Speaker:
Sheldon Larson, chief marketing officer, Aesthetics Biomedical, Joie Tavernise, founder and owner of JTAV Clinical Skincare in Manhattan and Tatiana Bido, features editor
Product Rundown:
“Vivace Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that combines microneedling, LED Light and and radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production,” says Tavernise. “It can help make your skin firmer, tighter, and smoother and it also addresses concerns like facial wrinkles and fine lines, acne scars, large pores, and uneven skin tone and texture.”
