The delicate eye area is prone to quite a few unsightly cosmetic issues, with dark circles and puffiness being a few of the more common problems surrounding the eye. However, there’s another concern out there that can make your eye area look less than ideal: Milia. Yes, those tiny, flesh-colored bumps are rather common and truth be told, most people aren’t exactly sure what to do once those whitehead-like bumps pop up along their lash line and eyelid.
In one woman’s case, her milia had reached a point where she needed to visit her dermatologist for treatment of those keratin-filled bumps, and interestingly enough, her doctor was none other than Dr. Pimple Popper. Unsurprisingly, the whole extraction process was caught on tape, allowing us to see what milia removal actually looks like.

In the video, California dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD (a.k.a. Dr. Pimple Popper), discusses milia with her patient, noting that although they’re completely harmless, they can be difficult to remove (you can’t simply squeeze milia out like you would a pimple). According to Dr. Lee, it’s best to prevent milia before they start by “exfoliating with chemical peels, microdermabrasion or topical retinoid.”
Unfortunately for Dr. Lee’s patient, heavy face creams and excessive eye rubbing led to her extreme case of milia, and in order to remove the woman’s numerous bumps, Dr. Lee used a needle to break the skin’s surface and then tweezers to pinch out the keratin protein. The whole video is pretty difficult to watch—especially since there’s blood and needles very close to the patient’s eye—so proceed with caution when watching.
