The Mask Inspired By Microneedling

By ·

Microneedling is all the rage at the moment, simply because it creates new collagen and elastin in the skin while improving things like scars, stretch marks and wrinkles and reducing pore size. In office treatments are more powerful than what can be achieved at home with a handheld roller, but that’s not to say they don’t provide results.

The next wave of microneedling isn’t an at-home roller or even an in-office device, but rather a mask. It was only a matter of time before the skin care industry took major note of this “going nowhere” trend and parlayed it into at-home beauty products. 111Skin Meso Infusion Micro Masks ($180) are like nothing else we’ve seen and here’s why.

The masks contain tiny cones of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid that are fused together and embedded in them. All you need to do is simply apply the masks to your crow’s-feet, under-eyes and folds and lines around your mouth and press them onto your skin. Leave them there for 90 minutes until the cones are fully dissolved to see results.

Totally intrigued, I had to test this one out. At first, I was a bit scared to put the masks on because of how they feel—you can actually feel the cones, and while they don’t feel sharp per se, they feel a little prickly. Once I got over it, I applied the small masks to my crow’s-feet area hoping they would smooth out my fine lines, even if only temporarily. Low and behold, more than an hour later, when I removed the masks, my skin was super smooth and my lines were a lot less visible than they were before. While I still needed to make an appointment with my dermatologist for my regular Botox injections, the area around my eyes did look fresher and younger for a few days, making this a great in between alternative or a good eye refresher for a big night out when you have the time to spare.
