Our priorities are out of whack. Sure, we of all people understand how wonderful cosmetic procedures can be, but we would never suggest that your overall health care should take a back seat to them.
The recent Reuters Health Summit in New York featured health industry executives and officials who described the current picture of health care involving patients who struggle to afford treatment and often delay it. This results in dismal market outlooks for the companies who create devices to treat infectious disease and screen for cancers. However, some executives at the summit were reporting gains and progress in their markets. Guess who they were with? Companies that manufacture cosmetic procedure related products.
Apparently the demand for cancer screenings isn’t as great as the demand for Botox injections. Does anyone else think this trend is disturbing? See the full Reuters story here.
