A superstrength lipstick and a fabulous mascara aren’t that hard to come by these days. Truth is, I fall madly, deeply, passionately in love with a new lip gloss just about every week. There are a lot of quality products out there. But you know what there isn’t a lot of in this beauty world? Brands that make a difference in something other than how great your skin looks.
A new collection called Make is out to create a more beautiful world, both literally and figuratively. Not only is this brand beautifully crafted and designed—from lipsticks and eyeshadows to primers and brushes, but a third of the online-only sales go to a non-profit called We See Beauty Foundation that funds women-led cooperatives in America.
Founder and owner Nikos Mouyiaris decided that one way to ease income inequality across the nation and help communities thrive was to provide employment for less fortunate neighborhoods through the creation of local cooperative businesses. Through the sale of these “socially and aesthetically-minded products,” We See Beauty is planning their first venture, a co-op in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn.
“I have seen how women with an entrepreneurial spirit can work together to create a better life for their families and communities. I want to provide a way that women everywhere can have the means to start a business, become a stakeholder and help benefit their community,” Mouyiaris told WWD.
All you have to do to help is purchase some of this gorgeous makeup. It really is a win-win situation.
