A “Liquid Lift” comprises a variety of different injectable and filler products to give a smoother, fuller, line-free look to skin. West Palm Beach, FL, dermatologist Kenneth R. Beer, MD treated patient Beth (above), who wanted to restore fullness to her cheeks and temples, and better define her nose and chin. “She has good skin, but adding a little volume to some of the areas where she’s a little hollow made a huge difference.”
“My cheeks were the biggest area of concern—when I lose weight it shows in my face,” says Beth. “I’ve noticed over the years that my cheeks have started to look hollow. My face is naturally small and because I’ve lost volume over the years I thought the added fullness would make me look better.”
Dr. Beer used Botox, Juvéderm Voluma, and Perlane to achieve Beth’s overall new look. A neurotoxin that works to temporarily immobilize muscle movement, Botox is commonly used to treat the crow’s-feet, forehead lines and between the eyebrows (these areas were treated in this “Liquid Lift”). Juvéderm Voluma, a hyaluronic acid filler, is FDA-approved to add instant volume to the cheek area. “It works nicely to even out the hills and valleys that are common of the cheeks,” says Dr. Beer. Also a hyaluronic acid filler, Perlane contains large sized particles, which are why it’s good for treating more severe wrinkles and treating areas that need to be injected deeply.
A “Liquid Lift” does not eliminate excess skin, tighten skin or provide long-term results. “Liquid Lift” results last on average for about one year. Some areas may start to revert back to baseline quicker than others depending on the filler used, how much filler was injected and how deep the product was injected.
