This Makeup Artist Turns the Glossy Lip Trend Into Works of Art

A glistening, glossy lip look can be super hard to pull off as it can easily become a sticky mess. Despite the risk of having strands of hair stuck on your mouth, the saturated, lustered look is gleamingly appealing, which is why Instagram user Meagan Baldini’s shiny lip art creations are so hypnotic.

The Vancouver, Canada, makeup artist spoke with Circa about her unique form of self expression. She said she began creating this type of lip art after undergoing lip injections. Using lots and lots of lip gloss mixed with temporary tattoos, glitter and various pigments, she is able to masterfully recreate the dripping lip look made popular by Kylie Cosmetic’s brand logo and fellow Instagram makeup artist Vlada Haggert, but with a glistening twist.

“The trick to the extra glossy look is in the words—I use a copious and uncomfortable amount of gloss,” she said. It can take anywhere from one hour to four to create each goopy, shiny, intricate look. “I’ve always been a creative person, so for me it was a way of accessing my creativity again all while getting ready in the morning,” said Baldini.
