Launch List: The Best Body Care Launching in September featured image

Hundreds of products come across our desks every month, but not all of them deliver on their claims or live up to the hype. (Not everything that goes viral on TikTok is a miracle worker.) This is our exclusive curation of the best-in-class body-care products receiving rave reviews from our team and hitting shelves right now.

1 / 10

SkinMedica Firm & Tone Lotion for Body ($165)

Only the brand’s second body product ever—years of research goes into these formulas—this new product is so much more than your standard body lotion. Dermatologist-tested, it’s formulated to prevent and address visible signs of body skin aging like crepey skin, uneven skin texture, sagging skin and lack of firmness.

Key ingredients include green microalgae and shitake mushroom extracts, which help give aging skin’s collagen and elastin a much-needed boost; caffeine, coffea arabica seed oil and Japanese parsley help promote smoother, firmer skin; and grapefruit peel oil and ginger root extract team up to provide powerful antioxidant properties.

Apply the lotion twice a day, giving yourself a nice massage as you go to increase circulation as well. “I see this product as my ‘active’ step,” says Hamden, CT dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD. “Like retinol is the active step of your facial skin-care routine, and then you follow with a moisturizer, I view this as the active step in my body routine and follow with a moisturizer.”

2 / 10

Josie Maran Argan Prosperity Mist ($39)

“I wanted to figure out how to get the moisture of my Whipped Body Butter in a whisper-light mist, and after four years, I did—it was a labor of love!” says founder Josie Maran. “It’s the finest micromist that goes on like silk—it’s not greasy or heavy. It will give your face, body and hair a major boost, a major quench and a major glow.”

The brand’s signature organic argan oil is the formula’s lead actress, but supporting roles go to six other standout oils: grape seed, rosehip seed, sweet almond, jojoba seed, coconut, and sunflower seed—there’s no water or alcohol in the mix. It’s free of synthetic fragrance but boasts a natural, earthy scent thanks to the oils, and it’s also vegan and gluten-free. And, as with any body oil spray, be aware that it will get all over your floor if you spray it downward at your legs (and it will make tile super slippery and a bit messy!). So, I like to spray it on damp skin in the shower (I have a grittier-textured tile floor so it doesn’t get slippery).

Sorella Apothecary Body Balm ($58, launching September 26)

Dubbed the body version of the brand’s best-selling face moisturizer, The Balm, this thick, luxurious, velvety cream melts into skin to nourish and firm. Key ingredients include palmitoyl tripeptide-37, which helps boost collagen production and firm up crepey areas, and mango seed butter, which is a natural source of vitamin C and also deeply hydrates thirsty skin. Warm it up in your hands and then massage it into your skin before bed for a serious dose of self-care.

“This launch has been in the works for a while and we are so excited to expand Sorella beyond skincare,” says cofounder Emily Sindlinger. “While skin care will always be our main focus, we cannot wait to see this line grow and develop.”

4 / 10

Dermelect Savior Skin All-In-One Balm ($42)

The list of uses for this new allover balm is a mile long. Let’s just say this is one of those products everyone needs in their cabinet for all those random little beauty emergencies like pesky flyaways and cracked heels or elbows. It can also be used to treat burns (sunburns, too!), cuts and scrapes, eczema, chafing and diaper rash on the little ones.

Vegan, gluten-free and safe for sensitive skin, this intensely and instantly nourishing formula is loaded with a proprietary antioxidant blend of oils, including castor seed, evening primrose, abyssinian and rose flower, as well as candelilla wax. So, whether your lips are chapped, you want to try the slugging trend, you need a quick fix for split ends or you have any or all of the above issues, add this multitasking salve to your cart now.

5 / 10

CHANEL No. 1 de CHANEL Red Camellia Revitalizing Body Serum-in-Mist ($95)

From the brand’s sustainably sourced No. 1 de CHANEL collection—the result of 10 years of experimentation in collaboration with the University of Vienna—comes this new ultra-fine body mist that helps rewind the clock on aging skin on the body. At the heart of this alcohol-free formula lives the red camellia flower, which was Mademoiselle Chanel’s favorite flower and is an ingredient Chanel says helps support skin the skin barrier and protects it against harsh environmental aggressors. In testing, the red camellia flower, which is naturally enriched with protocatechuic acid, was found to diminish wrinkles and increase elasticity, and the benefits extend beyond the face.

This fine, milky-textured mist combines red camellia with camellia water (totaling 41 percent of the overall formula) and feels refreshing as it hits the skin, but then quickly penetrates, going to work to deliver beneficial actives into the dermis for eight hours of hydration and a smoother, more toned appearance.

6 / 10

LENDAVA Handsome ($36)

Brand founder and Argentinian beauty Priscila Fadul has been involved in the beauty industry since she was a little girl through her family’s businesses distributing cosmetics, skin care and perfume. “I’m also an engineer with a strong knowledge of product formulation, and I’ve always been obsessed with skin care,” she tells me. “My goal with Lendava is to simplify your skin-care routine.” And as far as the brand name, Fadul says Lendava is the city where her grandfather was born in Slovenia. “I’m a super minimalist in every aspect of my life, from fashion and beauty to food and furniture, and if you go to Lendava, you’ll see how minimalist the city is. I admire my grandfather, and he passed me me his minimalist values.”

This ultra-hydrating, botanically scented hand cream packs in shea butter, antioxidant-rich green tea extract and soothing allantoin, on top of sun protection with mineral SPF 30. The formula is well-rounded and non-greasy, but it’s the chic, ergonomic packaging and cheeky name that really win me over. Who wouldn’t want to pull this out of their bag?

7 / 10

AmLactin KP Bumps Be Gone ($20)

Though keratosis pilaris (KP) has been a common issue for decades (I had it worst in college), 2022 seems like the breakout year for KP products, thanks largely to social media and people speaking openly about their “chicken skin” issues. So what is KP? Tiny bumps that most commonly appear on the backs of the arms, thighs and butt and make the skin feel rough. They can appear skin-colored or red, and they can become irritated when the skin is too dry.

This fragrance-free body cream combines moisturizing mineral oil, glycerin and petrolatum with 15-percent lactic acid (the brand’s signature ingredient) to exfoliate in a gentle way that won’t make KP even more irritated.

8 / 10

Naked Sundays SPF50 Golden Glow Body Sunscreen ($39)

Summer may be coming to an end, but your sun protection shouldn’t. This new creamy, vegan SPF from Aussie brand Naked Sundays—it has a serious cult following down under—is infused with tiny gold flecks that give skin the prettiest sheen while also shielding it from UV rays. But those aren’t the only benefits: it’s fragrance-free and chock-full of firming, circulation-boosting green tea extract and moisturizing antioxidant vitamin E. Some people actually use it on their face too, for an illuminating effect (think sunscreen mixed with a really pretty highlighter).

Celebrity makeup artist Deanna Paley is a big fan of the formula and uses it her clients, which include SZA, Becky G and Saweetie, to give them a photo-ready glow from head to toe glow.

9 / 10

evolvetogether Hydrating Body Cream ($48)

If you’re not familiar with this eco-friendly, chic and minimalistic brand, you should be. From responsible manufacturing to using no-box packaging—all products come in white biodegradable pouches—it is a paving the way for a more sustainable future. (I’m a big fan of the biodegradable storage bags, too—they don’t contain any microplastics—and I use them for everything!)

This new moisturizing body cream works for all skin types, including sensitive, and absorbs quickly without a greasy or sticky residue. It comes in two beautiful scents—rosy Monaco, lavender Provence—and Fiji, an unscented version, which is launching soon. I also love that it’s housed in a recyclable aluminum tube with a built-in roller key to help you squeeze out every last drop before you drop it in the recycling bin.

10 / 10

OLLY Fast Dissolves Sleep Supplement ($10 for 30 tablets)

Having trouble shutting your mind off and falling asleep at the end of a long day? You might consider trying a supplement like this one. The next generation of sleep supplements from the brand—its fan-favorite gummies aren’t going anywhere though, so don’t worry if you’re hooked—these vegan, non habit-forming tablets dissolve quickly in your mouth without any water or chewing (or sugar!), and have a yummy strawberry flavor from natural ingredients (no synthetic flavors or colors).

Take one 30 minutes before you’re planning to hit the hay and let the blend of 3 milligrams of melatonin and soothing lemon balm. In a study published in Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, lemon balm showed potential in helping restless sleepers at night.
