Launch List: The Best Body Care Launching in July

Tammy Fender Epi-Body Polish ($75)

As a big fan of Tammy’s cult-classic Epi-Peel for many years, I was thrilled to hear that the brand was working on a “body version,” and man is it good. This deep-cleansing exfoliator has a kaolin clay base—like Epi-Peel—that purifies skin and clears out clogged pores.

The minty-herbal scent lends an uplifting aromatherapeutic element and the formula is multitasking: You can use it as an allover scrub or a mask (let it sit for 10 minutes and then massage it in with a wash cloth as you rinse in the shower). Everything Tammy does is so intentional. She even recommends it as a foot scrub—a great summertime self-care treatment—and a scalp scrub.

Kaia Naturals The Takesumi Detox The Sweat Powder ($35)

Brand founder Mary Futher—she’s known as “Madame Sweat” on TikTok—has amassed more than 150,000 followers thanks to her innovative approach to addressing perspiration, and her new product is genius. It’s a talc-free powder made with magnesium carbonate, apple cider vinegar and zinc oxide that sets your deodorant to wick the moisture, similar to how gymnasts use chalk on their hands to avoid slipping when they’re sweaty. “Powders can grab a lot more moisture than deodorants,” says Futher, noting the best results come when you use all three steps in her Takesumi Detox system.

It comes in two scents—Sakura Blossom and Crisp Linen—the chamber is refillable (there’s six weeks of powder in each cartridge), the soft kabuki brush is easy to clean (like you would a makeup brush), and it blends into all skin tones. “It also works on the sweaty area under your boobs, which can also create an odor, as well as thigh chafing, smelly feet, and even the bikini line,” Futher adds.

WTHN Body Cupping Kit ($68)

I’ve learned so much from WTHN cofounder and chief healing officer Shari Auth over the last couple years. She’s a doctor of Chinese Medicine, a licensed acupuncturist and a board-certified herbalist, and I’ve been fortunate to have her on speed dial as a NewBeauty Brain Trust member—she is one of my favorite go-tos for all things wellness.

To pair with its popular Face Cupping Kit, WTHN is introducing a Body Cupping Kit, which lets people take the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice out of the brand’s bustling NYC studio and into their own homes. When used correctly (there is a learning curve), the treatment can help reduce muscle tension, provide a detoxifying effect and increase circulation.

You may have never experienced cupping yourself, but you must have seen Michael Phelps’ purple cupping marks at the Rio Olympics right? Athletes swear by it for reducing muscle soreness and speeding healing after competition.

Crépe Erase Body Firm Ultra Smoothing Neck Repair ($79)

First, let me just say I was so excited to see the beautiful Kate Walsh join Jane Seymour as the new ambassador for this neck cream and the brand’s two other Body Firm products (you can buy it as a three-step system, $60 with a membership, or snag each one individually in larger sizes). This neck cream is formulated with mature skin in mind: It’s chock-full of patented dual peptides to boost collagen synthesis and encapsulated retinol to smooth crepiness and wrinkles.

In clinical testing, 91 percent of women agreed the texture of the skin on their neck appeared smoother after eight weeks of daily use. And at just four weeks, the cream was clinically shown to improve the look of fine lines and crepiness on the neck, too.

MUTHA The Nudist Body Scrub ($68)

This warm vanilla–scented scrub is so yummy I wish I could eat it! Loaded with 98-percent naturally derived ingredients, it buffs away dead, dull skin with brown sugar and hydrates simultaneously with rich coconut, avocado, jojoba, sweet almond and castor seed oils. The addition of probiotics and postbiotics also help support the skin barrier during the physical exfoliation, so there’s no need to worry about this being too harsh.

“Supporting your natural moisture barrier is key for protecting and preserving your skin,” says Hope Dworaczyk Smith, brand founder. “This body scrub helps to exfoliate, hydrate and protect with all natural ingredients that work wonders on skin.”

Josh Rosebrook Body Acid Serum ($50)

Taking cues from the brand’s Daily Acid Toner, which won our NewBeauty Award and is one of my personal favorites, this new formula was designed to work on the thicker skin of the body. The creamy serum gently resurfaces dull, blotchy skin with glycolic acid, hibiscus flower acid and papaya enzymes, which also helps with bumps like KP. What I love so much though is that it exfoliates and moisturizes in one step—skin doesn’t feel dry or stripped (Josh would never do that) thanks to aloe vera, sodium hyaluronate, white tea and rose hydrosol.

“The body deserves the same quality of ingredients traditionally reserved for the face,” says founder Josh Rosebrook. “For us, this launch is about introducing truly result-driven body care with heavy-hitting performance products that can address a diverse landscape of skin thicknesses, skin conditions and environmental exposures. It was a formulation challenge accepted.”

Beia Body & Intimacy Serum ($42)

Beauty entrepreneur Brittany Lo launched Beia with the goal of helping women feel more empowered to love the skin they’re in and embrace their sexuality. The brand’s latest launch hits the mark with its dual-purpose formula—it’s loaded with coconut oil, squalane and aloe vera—that not only gives skin a silky infusion of moisture, but can also be used as a lubricant (but doesn’t look like one). Let’s just say, you won’t feel embarrassed if your mother-in-law spots it on your nightstand. Plus, I love that the glass bottle is equal parts beautiful and eco-friendly: it’s refillable!

Hanni Shower Scarf ($16)

With the summertime season comes a new approach to body exfoliation: In Japanese culture, it is common for both women and men to use long exfoliating cloths after a bath to smooth skin and allow for body lotions to penetrate better. 

This extra-long, recycled nylon exfoliating sheet—the design is inspired by vintage scarves from the ’70s—polishes skin from head to toe, tackling larger areas like the thighs in a flash. It’s great for rough, bumpy, “chicken” skin like KP, and can also be used on the bikini area and anywhere else you might experience ingrown hairs, to keep the hair follicles unclogged. 

Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Open Your Mind Lavender + Sandalwood Salt Body Scrub ($18.50, launching soon)

A salt-based body scrub infused with skin-loving vitamin E, this new addition to the brand’s cult-favorite Aromatherapy collection is like a warm hug after a long day. Lavender and sandalwood essential oils are known for inducing calm, but they can also indirectly improve focus and mental clarity, making this cozy-scented scrub a great shower staple to check off your to-do list and clear your mind.

Soap&Glory The Real Zing Body Wash ($10)

If you’re a morning shower person—I personally prefer my nighttime ritual—you’ll love this energizing, citrus-scented body wash that really wakes up tired skin. It’s super rich and creates a serious lather, and as you massage it into your skin, exfoliating alphahydroxy acids help banish dull, dry areas for a brighter look head to toe.
