It’s clear that injectables have become increasingly popular, especially as an alternative to more-expensive surgery during unstable economic times. But it’s becoming evident that laser procedures are seeing a big boost, too.
According to a new report by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, carbon dioxide laser resurfacing has seen a huge increase as an option for reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Specifically, over the last three years, women have chosen CO2 laser resurfacing treatments 215% more often, and men have done the same, by a whopping 456% more.
Facial treatments aren’t the only laser procedures experiencing an upsurge. The AACS says laser hair removal has become the second most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure in the country.
Experts site that the steadily building popularity and apparent immunity to the economy may be due to the fact that laser procedures have actually become more affordable, seeing an average $450 decline in price since 2002.
