In the most recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, former NewBeauty cover model Khloé Kardashian went on the record saying that she may want to get her boobs done. After losing nearly 40 pounds in her dramatic body transformation, Khloé says that she’s always wanted cleavage and even tries out different sizes and shapes of implants during one of her famously grueling workouts.

Prancing and dancing around with the testers in her sports bra, Khloé candidly admits that she, “Always wanted, like, cleavage in a sports bra. Like, I love those girls at the gym that just got big ol’ boobs and I never really have that, so I’m digging this whole cleavage in a sports bra thing. So, I don’t feel like it hurts to get a consultation to see what my options are and to see how serious I am about this whole boob job thing. I mean, we’re in LA; I feel like people get their boobs done like they fill up a car with gas.”
Orlando, FL, plastic surgeon Armando Soto, MD, says it’s not uncommon for the breasts to change following weight loss. “Depending on the amount of weight lost, the patient’s skin quality, her age and other individual details in combination with weight loss can cause deflation of the breast, lost volume and skin sagging,” he adds. “As weight is lost, the breast loses volume (in most patients, the volume loss is related to the amount of weight lost), and at some point, the skin’s ability to shrink with the weight loss is exceeded causing the breasts to sag.”
A change in the breasts can be seen from weight loss on its own or weight loss post-pregnancy. “Postpartum weight loss is probably the most common reason why women want breast enhancement surgery,” says Dr. Soto. “Weight loss, unrelated to pregnancy, is becoming a more common indicator, too.” But regardless of the cause, for women seeking out a breast augmentation after losing weight want to restore what they’ve lost or create what may have never been there. And when that’s their end goal, breast augmentation with implants is most definitely the way to go.
