We went crazy for Kerry Washington’s ultra trendy nails at the Golden Globes—they were the perfect mix of edgy, glam and sophisticated while sticking to a dark palette. Chanel celebrity manicurist Ashlie Johnson drew inspiration for the look from Kerry’s navy and metallic pink Mary Katrantzou gown.
Johnson started the manicure with Chanel Base Protectrice Protective Base Coat ($26) and then applied one coat of Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27) in Blue Satin. “I only used one coat of polish because I wanted to let a little light through so the shade would read lighter, rather than darker,” explains Johnson.
Next, Johnson applied two coats of Chanel Laque Brillance Extrême Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer ($26). “For the first application, I mixed the top coat with some loose glitter, and then I applied the top coat alone for more shine,” says Johnson.
The end result? Sexy, shiny, shimmery nails that Kerry made all her own.
