“I’ll have three [good] days, and then boom, I’ve got pimples showing up. I’ve had a hard time figuring it out,” Hudson revealed.

After trying different breakout remedies, the secret to her clear skin wasn’t found in a powerful skin care product, but rather her diet.
“When I went vegan last summer, my skin was the best it’s ever been—skin tone, pores, everything,” Hudson said in the interview. “Then I did Paleo, and what was interesting about Paleo was my skin wasn’t as good.”
New York dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD, says going vegan would require someone to pay more attention to their diet, and hopefully make healthier food choices, like cutting out processed and artificial sugars, drinking more water, and upping their vegetable intake. “This alone could help clear the skin by providing your body with more nutrients and vitamins, and get rid of some ingredients that could be causing inflammation in the body.”
“There could also be a direct correlation with cutting out dairy when going vegan. There is a strong link that has been established between dairy and acne because dairy activates receptors in the skin, which can worsen acne. Also, dairy often contains hormones that bind to the sebaceous glands and can increase sebaceous production. So, going vegan might help someone cut out something specific that’s aggravating their skin. Additionally, making healthier food choices could be the overall take away here to a healthy complexion.”
Although Hudson has access to the top treatments and products, it’s refreshing to know she has the same struggles as the rest of us, pimples and all.
