It’s easy for us to assume a celebrity’s flawless skin is thanks to an unattainable number of facials and lasers (being performed by the dermatologist they have on speed dial, of course) on the regular. Though that may be true, Kate Hudson is here to remind us that an at-home routine is the basis of all clear complexions—because after all, no number of in-office treatments can permanently fix skin that’s constantly being neglected at home. But, the process doesn’t always have to be a lengthy one.
As she tells InStyle, caring for her skin was easy 10 years ago; now, she’s says her hormonal breakouts have made her become very strict about her skin care regimen. “My skin clears up, and then, boom, a pimple pops up. But if I’m not lazy, which I can be, it will get better,” she says.
So what routine has she found works for her? Washing her face every single night, for starters. “And using toner is a game-changer,” she adds of the often overlooked skin care staple. “In the morning, I just rinse with water and follow with moisturizer and sunscreen.”
