Kate Beckinsale (our Spring-Summer 2012 cover model) has gone from short-haired and edgy in her Broke Down Palace days in the late 90s, to elegant and sophisticated in just over a decade. Her flawless beauty and dramatic makeover is impressive to say the least, so to get all the details on her transformation we asked the beauty pros that work on her for the details on how she manages to look so great.
Short hair is a thing of the past for Kate. Her stylist at Byron & Tracey salon, Justin Presnell, applauds the actress for taking excellent care of her long locks. “She comes in for treatments frequently to keep her hair healthy and shiny.” And as for her signature ponytail, “It’s so amazing on her because of her great bone structure and it doesn’t put all the stress of heat styling on the hair, but still completes her look,” Presnell says.
Edgy to elegant makeup
Kate’s toned down her makeup over the years, maintaining a natural look that appears effortlessly glamorous. “Her tastes lean more toward a refined and elegant aesthetic with a clean and classic look that emphasizes her flawless, dewy skin,” says makeup artist, Vasilios Tanis. Shielding her skin from the sun keeps it glowing. “Sunblock and self-tanner are some of her staples,” he adds.
To keep her body lean, Kate watches what she eats. On-set, she’s turned to food delivery program Sunfare ($30-$60 per day) for healthy meal options. “Our philosophy is to really listen to the client’s preferences, and to develop a menu that will put food in their refrigerator that they like to eat that also meets their nutritional needs. We put convenience into eating healthy and prepare dishes that give the correct amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats,” says Sunfare owner John Stewart.
