It’s no secret that the Kardashian-Jenners can sell pretty much anything—even plastic surgery.
And new research from UK group Transform shows that the Kardashian effect is also far-reaching. The report claims that there’s a “Dash Effect” currently happening across the plastic surgery industry, citing a 73 percent increase in their practice in patients requesting procedures to look like a Kardashian.
Mark Norfolk, clinical director at Transform, says that the Kardashian family has done more for plastic surgery than anyone else. When Kylie Jenner admitted to lip injections earlier this year, the practice saw a 700 percent increase in filler inquires overnight. “No one could have predicted the effect Kylie would have on the worldwide lip filler market; undoubtedly she is the industry’s new poster girl for this treatment.”
“They openly talk about treatments, are filmed whilst having procedures and are unashamedly obsessed with looking their best at all times,” Norfolk continues. “Fans and viewers can see the results of the treatments and procedures they’ve all had for themselves—the Kardashians have lifted some of the taboos and stigmas associated with surgery and nonsurgical treatments.”
