Take a sneak peek behind-the-scenes of our latest shoot with Veep actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Click through to see as we take this funny lady from fresh-faced to full on cover star.
The morning of Julia’s cover shoot began at Milk Studios in Los Angeles, CA. The photographer James White met with NewBeauty Editor-In-Chief Yolanda Bucher to discuss inspiration and direction for the shoot.
Time For Makeup
Celebrity makeup artist Karen Kawahara gave Julia an oh-so-subtle smoky eye for the cover shoot along with glowing skin and rosy lips. Get the full list of products and tips and techniques here.
Celebrity hairstylist David Gardner was on set with us. For the look, David wanted to stay on-trend. “The trend now is thick, healthy hair, but we’re going back to a more simple kind of volume—a little less width, a little less backcombing— more of how hair dries naturally. I call it ‘model-off-duty’ hair and that’s always the look that I strive for,” he says. The best products to pull off the look? Phyto Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray ($29), Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($42), and Moroccan Oil Luminous Hairspray Strong ($23). Get the full list of products and tips here.
Celebrity stylist Cristina Ehrlich created the looks for the shoot. She chose bright bold colors and some classic black and white dresses for Julia.
We can’t forget the shoes! There were lots of Jimmy Choos’ and Christian Louboutins’ on set.
The pink dress was first. It was the perfect compliment to Julia’s skin tone.
For lunch, True Food Kitchen in Santa Monica, CA, created a menu of healthy eats for every one on set.
Julia stunned in a floor-length yellow dress perfect for spring.
