If hair loss is one of your beauty concerns, the answer to your problems may lie in a drug used to treat glaucoma. Bimatoprost, an FDA-approved glaucoma medication that also causes hair to grow has been available commercially to elongate eyelashes. Research has recently been released confirming that the drug also grows human hair from the scalp.

“We hope this study will lead to the development of a new therapy for balding which should improve the quality of life for many people with hair loss,” says Valerie Randall, a researcher involved in the work from the University of Bradford, Bradford, UK. “Further research should increase our understanding of how hair follicles work and thereby allow new therapeutic approaches for many hair growth disorders.”

Many believe this discovery to be promising for those suffering from baldness. Because the drug is already approved for human use, it shouldn’t take long for the drug to be approved for the scalp.
