Many plastic surgeons are now offering what they call the “mommy makeover“: a single surgical session that combines a tummy tuck, breast augmentation or lift, and frequently liposuction to tackle post-pregnancy body concerns.
Many doctors feel it’s cosmetically beneficial to address pregnancy-related changes in both the breasts and tummy; but while multiple procedures are a great way to take care of post-pregnancy complaints in one operation, you should know that combining procedures leads to longer surgery and recovery time, and a higher risk of complications. The biggest concern with multiple procedures is the length of time the patient is under anesthesia.
It’s also important to listen to your doctor’s recommendation on how long you should wait before surgery. Doctors usually suggest waiting at least six months in order to give your hormones (and your whole body) a chance to get back to normal.
You should also wait until you’re done having children before undergoing abdominal surgery in order to maintain the results for the long term.
