Alcohol effects our bodies in all kinds of different ways, including weight gain. Although this isn’t news, one Swedish influencer shared images of how her body changed when she cut back on alcohol and the difference is quite dramatic.

Jelly Devote told Women’s Health that she used to go out at least three times a week, typically drinking hard cider and beer. But when she saw a bikini photo of herself at 21 she didn’t like, she decided it was time to make a change.

At first, she just started exercising, but after a few weeks decided it was time to cut back on drinking. “It’s simply impossible to have a healthy body and mind with that much consumption of alcohol,” she told the online magazine.

With this change, she also made a few other adjustments. First thing was drinking more water. “I’m always drinking water!” She also changed her meal schedule from three big meals a day to five of six small ones. Instead of processed foods like fries, chips and soda, her meals now consist of healthier foods like vegetables, healthy fats and proteins.

After four months of this, she had lost around 30 pounds. Now, she doesn’t even feel the need to weigh herself anymore.

“Weight doesn’t matter, you matter. How you feel about yourself”” she wrote in her Instagram caption. “Don’t focus on a number that can fluctuate 5kg in two days.”

Fitness is also important to her new lifestyle. “When I drag myself back to the gym, I fall in love with fitness all over again and enjoy it more than ever,” she told Women’s Health. She works out about five days a week, typically in a hotel room when traveling for work. Her go-to is using a portable resistance band or her backpack as a weight. She also enjoy going on hikes to get in some steps.

The now 27-year-old indulges in a glass or two of wine and champagne every other week and also isn’t scared to eat a doughnut. To her, it’s all about balance and feeling good about yourself.

“I’m so happy I’ve grown up, MENTALLY,” she wrote in one Instagram post. “I don’t pick myself apart anymore, I lift myself and others up!”
