Improve Dry Skin Two Ways

I would have never considered that I had dry skin. I always thought I was more oily or combination, at best. But with age, many of us experience drier skin that has lost its dewy glow. Now that, I’ll fess up to.

Still, I was concerned that a super-rich moisturizer would be too much for me and leave my face oily. Boy, was I wrong. I started using Clinique Moisture Surge Intense ($36) which launched this month. It’s an update to Clinique’s original Moisture Surge, which the company launched nearly 25 years ago.

Moisture Surge Intense works by providing a strong dose of hydration with olive squalane, red algae extract, sodium hyaluronate (which binds moisture to the top of layer of the skin) and aloe barbadensis leaf juice to soften.

Then it repairs and improves the moisture barrier with lipids, vitamin B and linoleic acid as well as wheat bran extract and olive extract to help the skin retain moisture, which is so important these days, as indoor heating can really dry you out.

After three weeks of use, my skin has regained its dewy softness and my mid-afternoon shine has actually decreased, much to my surprise. While many of us with oily skin think more moisture isn’t the answer, the truth is that the opposite may be true.
