Nothing makes women feel as instantly fabulous as a blowout. Something about that just-styled looks boosts confidence and makes you feel ready to take on the world. But, by day two, as your hair begins to fall, so do your spirits. By day three, the sad truth hits you: It’s time to wash that fabulousness right out of your hair and go it on your own.
Luckily, stylist Sam Villa, Founding Partner of the Sam Villa® brand and Education Artistic Director for Redken 5th Avenue, understands the importance of reaping the long-term benefits of a blowout. “It’s a service important enough to invest in regularly and the benefits should last,” he says. “Preserving a professional blowout has become as important as the blowout itself.”
Here’s his day-by-day breakdown of tips to take your blowout from a one-day deal to a weeklong affair.
Continue to enjoy your blowout.
Days Three and Four
Use a dry shampoo to keep your unwashed hair from getting oily. Shake well and spray evenly onto hair, and then run a brush through to remove excess product. If need be, use a blowdryer or flat iron to touch up your style.
Days Five and Six
Rub a small amount of Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine ($40) or argan oil onto the bristle tips of a small round brush (Sam Villa Small Boar Round Brush, $30) and rotate the brush along the hair surface to spread oil, smooth flyaways and impart softness and shine.
Time to shampoo.
