If you’re considering any type of smile makeover, be it subtle or extreme, to emulate your favorite celebrity smile, it’s important that you start by finding an experienced aesthetic dentist.

“You need to express to your dentist your idea of what it is that you want. Your dentist will then make suggestions and can show you what your new smile will look like by adding some temporary bonding material to your teeth,” says New York cosmetic dentist Irwin Smigel, DDS. Here’s what else you need to do:

Straighten Up
If shifting or crooked teeth are impinging upon your smile, braces or Invisalign may be necessary to better align your teeth. “Veneers can be used, too, to make crooked teeth look straight,” says Palm Desert, CA, cosmetic dentist Rene Dell’Acqua, DDS.

Another option is cosmetic contouring, which can also create the illusion
of straighter-looking teeth. Orthodontic-based procedures can be time-consuming, so be sure to take that into consideration when choosing your treatment plan.

Brighter And Whiter
Dark, stained teeth aren’t flattering on anyone, and that’s where professional whitening treatments come in. They’re easy to perform and the results they can provide are remarkable.

“Teeth whitening is the least-invasive way to enhance the smile and can help achieve the goal of a brighter smile,” says New York cosmetic dentist Timothy Chase, DDS. Plus, Dr. Dell’Acqua adds that whitening your teeth at home is the easiest thing you can do to maintain the look of a healthy smile.

Total Makeover
Hollywood celebrities are no strangers to veneers—in fact, a large majority of A-listers have them. In some cases, porcelain veneers are the only viable option for creating an iconic-looking, youthful smile. While they are the most costly option, they may be
the best option for teeth that are broken down and severely decayed.

Atlanta cosmetic dentist Ronald E. Goldstein, DDS says to ask for a younger-looking smile line, which means that the edges of the teeth are not straight across, but rather the two front teeth are slightly longer than the two next to them and the smile has a nice curve to it. “In some instances, we can use all-ceramic crowns,” he adds. And, when lost teeth are the problem at hand, implants are the best solution for replacing them.
