Makeup can be your best friend—it hides everything from wrinkles and fine lines to blemishes and discoloration. But having to don a face full of makeup just to leave the house can be defeating, which is why many women are embracing the natural “no makeup” makeup look. We turned to top makeup artists for the inside tricks and tips on how to create the illusion of being bare-faced when you’re really not. Here’s how to do it.
• Red and blotchy skin caused by rosacea and acne
• Acne breakouts
• Discoloration and uneven skin tone
Prep the Skin
In order to create an even base for her makeup, the skin was first prepped with Temptu BASE Smooth and Matte Primer. “Primer is important to use because it preps the skin and makes it the perfect canvas for makeup by filling and diffusing lines and wrinkles,” says Jackie Fan, Temptu lead makeup artist.
Even Out Tone
A medium-colored under-eye concealer was applied under the eyes to hide darkness. Then, using the Temptu AIRpod Foundation, warm beige foundation was applied in circular motions to give the skin an even, flawless look. “Airbrushing is versatile. With one tool you can spot-treat and achieve broader complexion coverage,” says Fan. “It acts like a concealer and foundation in one.”
Add A Pop of Color
For a healthy flush on the cheeks, a nude pink blush was airbrushed onto them. The same shade was applied to the lips. Temptu AIRpod Bronzer in Warm Glow was used along the perimeter of the face for natural contouring.
What to Use
If you’re short on time, reach for a tinted moisturizer that gives good coverage, like Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. It erases skin imperfections and since it’s oil-free, it won’t clog the pores. $38, jouercosmetics.com
Add Shine and Color
IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Butter Gloss in Pretty in Pink coats the lips in a baby pink shade with just the right amount of shine. $24, qvc.com
