Facial liposuction takes about 20 minutes to an hour and is usually performed under light sedation with local anesthesia (unless another procedure is being done). A cannula will be inserted into an incision either behind the earlobe, under your chin, or both to loosen and remove fat. After surgery, your doctor will place sterile bandages on the incisions, which many be held in place by a compression garment.
While age is not a major consideration for liposuction performed on the face, those with more elastic skin tend to see better results. If you have little fat, loose facial muscles, folds or saggy skin, you may not be a good candidate for facial liposuction. Rather, a necklift with contouring of the underlying fat and muscle or a facelift may be a better way to fix your concerns.
