Lipectomy: The general medical term for the removal of fat. Liposuction is a synonym for suction lipectomy.
Lipoplasty: In 1997, the Committee on New Procedures of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons decided liposuction should instead be called lipoplasty, but it didn't really catch on with consumers.
Liposculpture: Liposuction that uses ultrasound to break fat into small sections before removal.
Liposelection: Patented liposuction technology from surgical company Vaser that utilizes ultrasound to break up fat before its suctioned.
