Chin and Nose Combo Proves Successful

When looking to enhance and balance your facial profile, the nose is usually a good place to start. However, you might want to focus on your chin too. According to a new study from the University of Verona in Italy, addressing your nose and chin at the same time might produce the best possible outcome.
In their research the authors explain that the relationship between the nose, chin and neck greatly determines an “aesthetically proportionate” face. In other words, it’s possible to still have proportion issues after undergoing a nose job only.
The researchers found that the success of the combination of nose and chin augmentation continues long term with minimal change, or instability, in the shape of the patient's chin. “We can for sure improve facial profile with stable results with rhinoplasty alone, but the association with genioplasty [chin augmentation] is fundamental and necessary to achieve the best aesthetic result," says lead researcher Dr. Dario Bertossi.
The authors feel strongly that the combination of nose and surgery is the best solution for people with a small chin. Chin augmentation, “if performed with bone remodeling, is a stable operation which guarantees long-term results," says Dr. Bertossi.
Many doctors agree that doing both procedures simultaneously is a good idea. Not only does it cut down the cost but it also eliminates a second procedure and recovery period.
