How Your Birthday Determines Your Plastic Surgery Needs
Our faces and bodies change as each birthday goes by, but along with that, our expectation of how we should look also evolves. While each decade might be ripe with insecurities, the attributes we wish to change or enhance tend to be similar for people in our same age range. This revelation comes from a recent America Society For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery infographic, which finds that women in the same age group want the same cosmetic procedures.
For example, young women are the top group for rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and laser hair removal since "body proportions, facial imbalances and clear, smooth skin are their top priority." Women, aged 35-50, however, are the top consumers of neurotoxin injections like Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, and are clearly more concerned about the appearance of an aging face. In fact, ASAPS says 48 percent of injections occur in this age range.
For the 50 and over crowd, facelifts, brow lifts and eyelid surgery are top priority. Since this demographic is increasingly still in the workplace and they want to stay competitive in the job market, there has been an up-tick in procedures. Cosmetic enhancement in patients aged 65 and older has increased 79 percent since 2001.
How do you stack up with the others in your age group?
