Injectables: Uncertainty And Enthusiasm
By Marci Robin , Senior Online Editor |
Confused about injectable treatments like fillers and Botox? You're not alone. Want one anyway? You're in good company. Lots of women who say they would prefer injectables over surgery are admittedly or not-so-admittedly confused by what they do.
When the American Society of Plastic Surgeons surveyed almost 800 women who were strongly considering a medical anti-aging treatment in the future, they found that many had the wrong impression about injectables.
For example, 21% of the respondents believed an injectable will prevent the need for a future facelift, which would be a very rare outcome. Additionally, only 15% of those surveyed realized that how long treatment results last depend on which injectable product is used.
Fortunately, nine out of ten women were willing to obtain more information before pursuing a procedure by asking an experienced dermatologist, plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon, which is exactly what you should do if you, too, are interested in-and mystified by-injectables.
