Teeth Whitening Advice From Newbeauty Readers
By NewBeauty Editors |
Smile! We've been told this probably more times than we could ever begin to count. But sometimes it can be hard to flash your pearly whites when they are anything but pearly. This week, we asked you, our informed and lovely readers, on Facebook and Twitter what your secrets are to whitening your teeth.
Cynthia suggests rubbing strawberries on your teeth as an all-natural way to whiten them. It turns out strawberries are listed as stain fighters that can help whiten and brighten your teeth.
Lisa stays away from soda and dilutes her coffee and tea with cream or almond milk to avoid stains. It's also important to avoid cigarettes, says Sharon (as if we needed to tell you that again).
As for whitening products, Crest was popular among the readers who responded. Lyndsay uses Crest White Strips ($50) once a quarter and then uses baking soda as maintenance in between. Becky uses Crest 3D Whitening Toothpaste ($3), and Christy is a fan of their whitening mouthwash. Other popular products were Colgate Optic White Toothpaste ($5), Smileactives Teeth Whitening Pens ($28) and products from GLO.
If you have veneers or any other types of porcelain restorations, our reader Jennifer recommends the Supersmile line. "I have had many porcelain restorations, and Supersmile is the only product line that I know of that works! I've gone over one and a half years with absolutely no stains and no sensitivity. My Hygenist and Dentist are amazed!"
