Upgrade Your Smile With Veneers
By NewBeauty Staff |
Are you considering veneers? Wafer-thin shells of porcelain, veneers can be used to create a more dramatic smile. Veneers are most commonly used to cover up deep, irreversible stains and chipped and cracked teeth. The can also be used to correct severely crooked teeth.
Before your veneers are adhered to the front of your teeth (veneers only cover the front portion of a tooth, whereas crowns cover the entire tooth, both front and back), your dentist will most likely take photos of your current smile to show you how you will look with your new veneers. He or she may also make a “trial smile,” which is an acrylic or composite resin mold that allows you to test drive your new teeth and decide if any changes, like color, shape or length, need to be made.
Once you and your dentist make a final decision on your veneers, your teeth will be etched with a mild acid solution (you'll be a given an anesthetic to reduce any pain) and the porcelain restoration will be added to your existing teeth with a composite resin material, then hardened with a high-intensity light. Finally, the veneers are carefully trimmed so that they are even, without any rough edges. Does this sound like something you would be interested in?
