One Visit Fixes For Your Smile
By Shellie Terry Benson |
While it's true that many dental procedures like crowns, veneers and straightening, take multiple procedures and maybe even many months to see results, there are some treatments that can make over your smile in just one visit. Whether you want to reshape your teeth, fix a gap or brighten up your smile, you can be in-and-out with a new look in practically no time. Here are three options:
Shape up with contouring: By sanding or shaping your teeth, your dentist can create an illusion of a straightened or less-crowded smile. Small amounts of enamel are sanded away using abrasive strips to reshape your teeth, typically focusing on rounding the edges of too-square teeth. You must have enough enamel to have the procedure done, which your dentists can determine. After the sanding is complete, your teeth will be polished smooth.
The bonding fix: If you have a chipped tooth, gaps or teeth that are two short, your dentist can use a puddy-like resin on your teeth to sculpt new shape to your teeth. After they are shaped, your new teeth will get a dose of high-intensity light to set the resin.
Go brighter with bleaching: For long-lasting whitening (up to two years), your dentist can perform a laser or light-based bleaching treatment that only takes about 30 to 60 minutes. If you have sensitive teeth, however, you may want to opt for bleaching trays from your dentist that you can use at-home.
