3 Treatments To Do Now For Swimsuit Season
By Shellie Terry Benson |
In the cold of winter, a gal's fancy may turn to thoughts of running on the beach in her bikini...or lounging on the lido deck...or shopping in the islands. Those wonderful warm days may seem eons away, so why not invest some time now on those procedures you've been considering?
The winter months are ideal for treatments because you're less likely to hang out in the sun (which can be particularly harmful after laser treatments) and you've got plenty of time to heal before you shed your layers of wool. Here are a few options to consider:
Vein treatments: For many of us, pregnancy or weight gain and loss has left us with unsightly spider and varicose veins on our legs. We keep our gams hidden and won't even put on shorts during the hottest days of the year. However, a 30-minute sclerotherapy treatment with an injectable solution like Asclera will leave you with fewer veins in about six weeks. The injection basically causes the vein to collapse and the vein no longer transports blood. The body naturally and harmlessly dissolves the vein. It dramatically reduces surface spider veins and smaller varicose veins. (Larger veins need to be removed surgically.)
Reduce deep lines and scars: Now is a good time for fractional laser treatments which create tiny wounds in the skin and promote collagen production for significant reduction in deep wrinkles and scars. You'll likely only need one fractional C02 laser treatment for lines and wrinkles around the eyes and upper lip or to diminish scars on the face, hands, neck or chest. You'll have about two to three weeks of downtime and you'll see the full results within six months.
Make over your smile: On your summer vacation, you're sure to be doing a lot of smiling, so now's the time to get it into shape. If your teeth are generally healthy, you'll need to invest three to four weeks for the few office visits needed to apply veneers to your teeth. Veneers, wafer-thin porcelain shells that are bonded to your original teeth, can help with alignment, discoloration or the shape of your teeth.
If you're missing teeth, now may be a good time to look into dental implants, which can permanently fix a faulty smile. You'll need about three months for lower jaw implants and up to six months on the upper jaw.
